The photo archive project is back on track! Today was spent enjoying the countryside of Vietnam. The photo that stood out, was Leo in meditation in front of a temple. Very Zen.

1270 more to go…
Sunday, February 11th, 2007And now, back to scanning
Sunday, January 28th, 2007The slideshow for my father’s birthday party was a big hit. He seemed to really enjoy the party too. Now that we are done with that activity, I can get back to scanning photos in for the archive project.
Instead of just randomly picking another box to start scanning, I decided to take out all of the slides and organize them. It took a couple hours to get them back into their original stacks. I unloaded all of the carousels too. Looking at the bounty in front of me, I estimate that there are over 1300 slides here! So lets see…8 slides scanned per hour, and working 2.5 hours per night, means this will be done in 67 days. With no breaks.
Not to mention that there are no slides from Dec 73 to Nov 73 here. I bet those are in another box. Of the slides that I do have, they span from December of 1970 to July of 1983.
Leisure Suit Larry
Friday, January 19th, 2007The Fronza Photo Archive project was on hold for the last two evenings, while Jenny and I scanned in Meyer family photographs for my Dad’s upcoming 60th birthday party. Here were a couple that we both liked. Jenny used to say she wasn’t interested in me for how I dressed. But look at me! The cycling cap, vans, Op shirt. I was stylin’.

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007And away we scan…
Tuesday, January 16th, 2007Leo purchased a Cannon Canoscan 8600f scanner for the family, so we could scan in old negatives and slides, and then put them into iPhoto. I unpacked it after work today, and got it up and running. After tinkering with the settings, and scanning a bunch of samples slides, I finally figured out what I want to do. However, the settings I am using (to get the highest quality) takes a long time. Scanning four slides at 3600dpi is taking around 20-30 minutes!
So, it’s 11:00pm, and after all of my work tonight, I only have 8 slides done. Of the 8 slides so far, I like this one the best. Leo gave me a box with 1000s of them, so hopefully we’ll have everything done by August, which is when Jon and Sarah come to visit again. Then again, if you look closely, you’ll see that I scanned this photo in backwards. Stupendous. Guess I’ll be redoing these 8 tomorrow night.
